Great-Grandma & Grandpa Friend:

This wedding photo of the Friends is a great example of the "carte de visite" that was given to friends much like we give 4x6 prints. Printed on very heavy card stock and measuring about 3" by 5", these were printed by photographers and ordered "in bulk" to hand out when visiting, like a business card.

This image is of my great-grandparents and was taken around 1900. Her name is Gertrude and she has a special place in my heart.
